I’m 36 years old and my skin can’t decide whether it wants to be 15 or 60.
I have an oily nose, peppered with gruesome blackheads, I get gatherings of hormonal chin spots which instantly take me back to desperate Clearasil days of years gone by and yet I also stare in amazement at the small wrinkles that are suddenly making a home on my face. There’s no doubting that they intend to stay for the long haul and multiply!
I’m not by the way one of those women who accepts wrinkles as a sign of wisdom and life experience. I am going to fight them to their death. Not with surgery mind you because I can’t understand why anyone would go through the hell of surgery for a non-medical reason. However, I can’t promise that I won’t one day turn to Botox. (This is a fairly new decision…the 25 year old me is staring at this admission with a disgusted air about her.)
Anyway, whilst trying to navigate my oily/dry/teenage/ageing/muddled skin, I have discovered something that has been totally skin-changing and I really want to recommend it to you because unlike so many beauty products it will make a noticeable difference to the quality of your skin and give you the one thing that we all seem to chase….a glow!
So, let me introduce you to Dr Dennis Gross’ Alpha Beta Peel Pads.
Here’s the blurb from their website:
” This two-step anti-ageing facial peel quickly addresses fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, blemishes, dark spots and redness, whilst fortifying skin’s fabric with free radical-fighting antioxidants. Developed for anyone who’s sampled other anti-ageing treatments without success, or whose complexion is looking uneven, scarred or lack-lustre – these revolutionary pads are rich in five alpha- and beta-hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, malic, citric and salicylic) to dissolve the skin’s dulling ‘stratum corneum’ (the oldest, thinnest, top-layer of skin) and reveal the younger, more radiance skin cells beneath.”
And here’s what I think:
These wipes are ridiculously expensive. I’m talking £70 for 30 treatments. They say you should use them twice a day. DON’T! Use them like twice a week. That will be enough. They also sting when you use them. Not in a McCauley Culkin using his Dad’s aftershave in Home Alone kind of way, but enough to make you think “Wow these must be doing something pretty hardcore”. (Bear in mind that I am prone to facial eczema and have been fine using these…. though it is worth testing on a small area of skin first if you’re at all worried about using them).
Negatives aside, I can’t even begin to tell you what a difference these have made to my face. It is less congested, I look younger, scars are fading. For the first time in ages I actually feel confident without makeup. They’ve given me back my glow and as vain and shallow as it sounds, good skin has given me a general boost. I feel good!
I don’t want you to break the bank but if you have a bit of spare cash or are due a present, give them a try. I think you’ll be happy with what you see.
